Bears RB Matt Forte Impresses
The Chicago Sun Times reports about second round draft choice, Matt Forte, “if there was a wow factor to the first practice Friday, it was Forte. The 6-2, 222-pounder looks the part, as real as it gets in shells and shorts. The burst he ran with was legitimate.” Full story here.
Monster Take: And so the buzz begins for Cedric Benson’s replacement. Benson has yet to catch on with the fans and coaches. Forte has a legitimate shot at taking the starting position from Benson. Remember, the bears passed on QB’s Brian Brohm and Chad Henne to take Forte at this spot in the draft. Either they were impressed enough with Forte to pass up a pressing need at QB or they are unimpressed enough with Benson. Either way, Forte figures to push Benson for the starting gig.
