ESPN reports regarding the Cowboys demand that WR Terry Glenn sign an injury waiver. “I’m not signing any waiver,” said Glenn, who said he wants to move on with his career if the Cowboys no longer want him. Full story here.
Monster Take: The Cowboys are unlikely to bend on this. They have options other than Glenn and his ability to contribute is no given with the after-effects of the injury.

The New York Daily News reports that Jeremy Shockey “took his feud with the team to a new level this week, when he apparently had a heated exchange with Giants GM Jerry Reese during the team’s three-day minicamp.” Full story here.
Monster Take: This one has the feel of nearing the point of no return. We wouldn’t be surprised to see Shockey traded.

The Newark Star-Ledger reports, “On the day when everyone expected tight end Jeremy Shockey to be the one making headlines, it was wide receiver Plaxico Burres who dropped the bomb: He’s not participating in minicamp because he’s unhappy with his contract.” Full story here.
Monster Take: It has been reported that they’ve been trying to work out a deal here, but just haven’t got it done. Both sides seem interested in working something out so we expect this one to resolve soon.

The Washington Post reports about running back Clinton Portis. “Portis has been a mainstay of the offseason workout program since March, keeping to a proper diet and working out in the weight room like never before after spending much of the last two seasons trying to overcome injuries and a tendency to become winded.” Full story here.
Monster Take: Portis’ commitment level seems to be improved. That’s always a good thing. Now if he can just avoid injury he could be in for a very good year.

Newsday reports, “according to a person who has been in touch with Shockey’s camp, the tight end plans to show for next week’s mini-camp (June 11-13).” Full story here.
Monster Take: Shockey is purportedly unhappy with his situation with the Giants and there was talk of a trade. However, nothing has happened on the trade front and Shockey will reportedly show up for mini-camp.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports, “the Cowboys have told Glenn to either sign the $500,000 injury waiver for his surgically-repaired right knee or prepare to play elsewhere.” Full story here.
Monster Take: The Cowboys are holding all of the cards here. What other team will take a chance on Glenn with his injury? Glenn will likely agree to their terms soon.

John Clayton at ESPN.com reports, “Barber agreed Tuesday to a seven-year, $45 million deal with the Cowboys. Included in the deal is $16 million in guarantees.” Full story here.
Monster Take: This is great news for Barber and the Cowboys as well as Barber owners. Ordinarily we would be a little wary of a running back getting the big deal (think Shaun Alexander in Seattle) as he has less incentive to produce. However, we believe that Barber will still have enough to prove that the huge contract will be a non-factor.

The AP reports, “On the field with the New York Giants for the first time Friday, the troubled third-round draft pick from Michigan showed flashes of why he might have been one of the biggest steals in the NFL draft.” Full story here.
Monster Take: Manningham displayed confidence and athletic ability in his debut at minicamp. Concerns about failed drug tests while in college at Michigan will dog him for a while until he proves he can keep his act together in the NFL. WR’s typically don’t make a huge splash in their rookie seasons, so we would view Manningham as a potential late round sleeper until we see more.

The Dallas News reports that Dallas owner Jerry Jones said, “there’s a 50-50 chance that Terry Glenn will start in 2008.” Full story here.
Monster Take: Whoever starts in this potent passing attack with Tony Romo, T.O., and Jason Witten, will provide fantasy football value. However, we’re not buying that it will be Glenn. He turns 34 this summer and is coming off a serious injury. We’ll have to see him show something this summer before we’d even think about taking him in our drafts.

The AP reports “tight end L.J. Smith signed the one-year contract he was tendered by the Philadelphia Eagles when they placed the franchise tag on him two months ago.” Full article here.
Monster Take: Coming off a very sub-par, injury riddled 2007 season, Smith could be one to watch this year. He should be healthy with the off-season rest and his QB, McNabb, should be healthy as well. He should also be motivated to prove himself fully healthy to get a new multi-year contract with the Eagles or to position himself to move to another team.
