The Tennessean reports that six months after surgery for a broken ankle Roydell Williams “still isn’t practicing. He’s still hurting. His sights are set on training camp, but with the notion he’s going to have to play in pain.” Full story here.
Monster Take: Williams was in position to have a good 2008 after building some momentum in 2007. Now, Justin McCareins appears to have the inside track to win the starting job.

The AP reports that Ahman Green is not experiencing problems with the knee that kept him out of all or part of 10 games last season. “”He looks good. He’s had a good offseason,” coach Gary Kubiak said. “I want to knock on something every time I say that. He’s been a good worker in the program. He hasn’t missed a day.” Full story here.
Monster Take: Green looks to be the starter here if he can stay injury free. That is a big “if” however. Note that it even has Coach Kubiak knocking on wood every time he talks of Green’s current healthy status. Green has value in what looks to be an improving Houston run attack. However, the injury risk pushes that value down. At 31 years old, the injury bug is an even greater risk. Don’t draft him as your number two - but if you can get him for depth he’s worth a shot.

The Houston Chronicle reports, “Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson will miss the entire month of OTA sessions after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Thursday.” Full story here.
Monster Take: He should be back in time for training camp if he sticks to schedule. We’ll keep an eye on this for you.

The AP reports that LenDale White played the 2007 season with a torn meniscus. Said White, “This happened last year in preseason. I tore my meniscus. I played on it all season. Contrary to what people believe, I am a soldier. I played on it all year and I didn’t complain, not once. I waited until the season was over to get it fixed and now I’m feeling good.” Full story here.
Monster Take: In 2007, White rushed for 1,110 yards and 7 TD’s. That was better than most expected at the season’s outset even without knowledge of his injury. This year the Titans look to mix it up a little by adding first round selection, Chris Johnson - the fastest player to run at the NFL combine. White should still see the bulk of the carries.

The Houston Chronicle reports “at the Texans’ minicamp, all the backs are healthy, creating a logjam of competition.” Full story here.
Monster Take: This should be a fun one to watch. With Ahman Green, Domanick (Davis) Williams, and Chris Taylor reporting to minicamp healthy along with free agent acquisition Chris Brown and third-round draft pick, Steve Slayton the Texans have a pretty talented group to work with. We’ll keep you updated throughout the summer on this situation.

The Indianapolis Start reports, “running back Dominic Rhodes has rejoined the Indianapolis Colts, signing a one-year deal with the team he helped lead to a Super Bowl championship.” Full story here.
Monster Take: Rhodes provides a capable backup for Joseph Addai at a relatively inexpensive price tag - approximately $650,000. Rhodes obviously knows the system and should be able to contribute immediately. At 29 years of age he still has a little left in the tank and represents a potential handcuff for Addai owners.

Regarding Colts WR, Marvin Harrison, police Spokesperson Tanya Little said, “He’s not a suspect at this point.” Full story here.
Monster Take: Previous reports have indicated that bullets at the scene of the shooting came from a handgun that Harrison owns. Harrison has also been questioned by police. At this point, the good news is that he has not been named as a suspect in the shooting.

ESPN.com reports, “Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Marvin Harrison is under investigation in his hometown of Philadelphia in a shooting that took place earlier this week.” The article goes on to say that bullets found at the scene were fired by a custom-made Belgian weapon and that Harrison owns such a weapon. Injuries sustained by the victims did not sound serious. Full story here.
Monster Take: This sounds very serious. We’ll wait for more news before we pass judgment on one of the NFL’s class acts, but this could be bad for Harrison.

The AP reports, “Quarterback David Garrard has signed a contract extension with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Full article here.
Monster Take: Garrard is coming off a productive 2007. It’s always a good thing when you can get contract issues resolved before camp. The fewer distractions the better.

The AP reports that “Tennessee Titans running back LenDale White has been cited with destruction of property, disobedience to a lawful order/interference and resistance.” Full article here.
Monster Take: White is coming off a productive 2007 season with 1,110 rushing yards and 7 TD’s and is positioned to build upon those stats in 2008. Unfortunately he seems to put himself in bad situations. Last season he arrived at camp out of shape and some questioned his dedication. We’re thinking that this will blow over with little consequence. His conditioning upon arrival at camp this year will say a lot.
